Summary
In one line: The danger of hearing a word without meditating on it — the stony ground receives it with gladness but has no root (Mark 4:16-17).
Key points
- "Lord, let this word sink into my spirit." The word is meant to keep you in unfavourable times. "It's easy to celebrate 'Jesus heals' when you're not sick — until the doctor says you don't have much time."
- God didn't speak so the negative wouldn't come — He spoke because it's coming, and the word must already have roots.

SO, IT IS IMPORTANT to realize even though these men were using words that are similar to farmers, but there is wisdom in what they are saying.
A good example is this. If you go to Mark chapter 4 from verse 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground. Who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness.
And have no roots in themselves.
This is the danger of hearing a good word, but not meditating on the word.
This is the danger of hearing the word, being excited but not thinking of and praying that Lord, let that word that you have spoken truly sink into my spirit.

So, IT IS NOT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD is not when you're hearing it, but your ability to keep it so that it can come forth when you most need it. It is easy to celebrate the word when you don't need it. Oh, let me talk to somebody.
You teaching.
It is easy to celebrate the word of God when you don't need it. You shall be healed, but when you're not sick, BE LIKE, "YES, [screaming] JESUS HEALS." UNTIL THE DOCTOR tells you, "Well, you don't have much time on Earth." Then you begin to question that word. Lord, did you really Am I speaking to somebody?
You teaching.
Lord, did you really speak to me?
Lord, is that really your word unto me?
Lord, is that really you? Lord, WHY WOULD YOU SAY something to me and then I have to live through the worst part of that word that I have to fight for that word to work. Well, you got it wrong because you thought God spoke to you so that the negative doesn't happen.
God spoke to you because the negative is coming, but what he's planting in you should produce roots.
Come on.
