Is God Speaking to You? (How to Recognize His Voice)

Summary
In one line: How he learned to hear God: the still small voice isn't a whisper — it's an impression, a pulling deep inside (1 Kings 19:12), learned by acting on it until you recognise how it feels.
Key insights
- In prayer Jesus speaks with him face to face; in ministry it's an impression dropped in his spirit — "she has a tumour in her back." The word burns and he feels insecure — then the person shouts "that's true!" He analysed that feeling; after a thousand times you master the realm of impressions and God moves on to other ways.
- God's obsession with obedience is to train you to hear Him.
- Sin doesn't stop you hearing God — God warned Cain before the murder and talked with him after (Genesis 4:6-12); "your sins separated you from Me" — not Him from you (Isaiah 59:1-2).
- "Relationship with God" is a modern doctrine — you don't build it; you receive His love, given while we didn't love Him (Romans 5:8). "God is for me, not against me."

This is how Lovy Elias began to hear God clearly. When I would be in prayer and the Lord Jesus would appear to me, it would be a conversation like I am with you who are looking at me. But when he sends me out to minister to people, it's not an open vision anymore. I am fully here, but my spirit is pulling on him.
Something will be dropped in my spirit. The still small voice is not a whisper. It's a nudging or a pulling or an impression deep inside you that you know that you know that you know by your soul as it's being ministered to by your spirit and your spirit by the Holy Spirit. The Lord will say, "She has a tumor in her back." That thing would drop inside of me and I would panic.
What if she doesn't? It wasn't a voice. I just know that I know that I know that it's dropped within me. I am so The more that word is burning inside of me, the more insecure I become because all my attention is in what has been dropped inside of me. Now I am afraid of acting on it. But when I move to that person and I say "There is a tumor that is growing in your back." They shout, "That is true."
My soul and my spirit just got upgraded because now I know that when that voice comes, this is how it feels like. I become insecure in this way. This is how it pulls on me. I have analyzed it, broken it down. So the next time the same thing happens, I am certain what God is saying. Not because I am guessing by experience. If you do that a thousand times it will no longer just be something dropped in your spirit. God will move on now to speaking to you another way because you have mastered the realm of impressions.
This is why obedience is such a big deal to God. Why? Because he's training you to hear him. The obsession of God with obedience is not so that you do what he wants. His obsession is for you to learn to hear him. Let me prove it to you even though I'm giving you a little prophetic lesson, let me prove it to you. All your life you are told if you sin, you can't hear God. That is a lie.
It's not true. You don't hear God because you don't know his voice, not because you sinned. Even though God hates sins, God will not have conversations with sinners. He can give a directive to bring you to salvation so that he can have that, with lack of a better words, intimacy with you. Instead of you I hate the word relationship because it makes no sense.
The Bible never says have a relationship with God. He says receive God's love. The concept of relationship is not an ancient church doctrine. It isn't. It's a modern doctrine. You know Christianity is a relationship with God. It is true, but not in the sense we are portraying it. You need to build a relationship with God. No, you're not building anything with God. You're receiving what God has already ordained.
He's building you up. You're not constructing anything with him. It's a lie. It feels good. It feels spiritual, but it's deception. Because if God's love in your life is dependent on you building with him, then we are all going to hell. Because how consistent are we?
You have to think. Because when we didn't love him, he still loved us. His love has always been unconditional for us. So, that means his love has nothing to do with our response, but we benefit by how we respond. Sin is not the reason why you don't hear God. I can prove it to you. Cain kills Abel. Before he kills him, let me even go before he kills him. The voice of God comes to warn him. Hey, if you do right, will you not be received?
Sin is knocking at the door of your heart. You should not let it rule over you, but you must subdue it. A few days later, Cain kills his brother, and God comes to him and says, "What have you done? Why is the voice of your brother calling to me from the ground? Am I my brother's keeper? What is this you have done?" He's having a whole dialogue with God after he killed somebody. You you may have just lied and you believe that now God is not going to talk to me.
Now, is God desiring for us to be in sin? No. But how will he rescue us from sin if we cannot perceive his voice? That would be a total contradiction. Every day you sin, it doesn't stop to the Holy Spirit from filling the room when you pray. You even say, "Father, forgive me for all my sins." He says, "I forgive you."
Why didn't he drop you? People read Jeremiah the wrong way. Said, "My hand is not short to deliver, nor my ears dull from hearing, but your sins have separated you from me." He didn't say, "Your sins have separated me from you." You have separated yourself. Just type this, God is for me and not against me.
God is for me and not against me.
I can't hear you.
God is for me and not against me.
I can't hear you.
God is for me and not against me.
One more time.
God is for me and not against me.
God is definitely for us. Even when we go astray, he's still for us. His desire is for us to be completely in sync with him.
